Extended Day Program

Extended Day Program (EDP)

All Community Education child care options are contingent on staffing, ensuring the health and safety of students/staff, as well as the ability for the District to remain open by Executive Order.

The Extended Day Program/Teen Program (EDP/TP) is based on the premise that administration, staff, advisory council, parents, and children work together to develop policies and programs to create an educationally sound and stimulating environment, meeting the needs of children before and after school hours and on days when school is not in session. To register for EDP, click here.

It is recognized and emphasized that EDP/TP is not an extension of the school day and that the environment created must reflect the relevant differences. It is essential to recognize that EDP/TP functions within the limits of a school building, which is used for regular classes during the day. EDP/TP emphasizes the need for children to be greeted by a warm, caring person at the end of the school day; to have nutritious, tasty snacks; to make choices and decisions; to have the opportunity for age-appropriate experiences that will nurture the development of skills; and to spend their time before and after school in a supportive environment that will allow them to grow socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
