COMMUNITY MIDDLE SCHOOL HEALTH UPDATE
May 14, 2021

This afternoon, the school district was made aware of a COVID-19 positive case involving a Community Middle School student who participates in all-virtual instruction and is on a school athletic team. Upon contract tracing, out of an abundance of caution and the possibility of exposure, a teammate was quarantined as were six additional contacts (four all-virtual students and two in-person students). The impacted students will be restricted from attending in-person instruction and athletic practices/events during the quarantine. All students that were potential close contacts have been contacted by the school health office.

Community Middle School will continue to operate on the Hybrid 2 Week and All-In schedule next week without interruption.

As a reminder, our WW-P Schools have implemented health protocols as informed by guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New Jersey Department of Health. When implemented with fidelity, the protocols work to limit possible exposure and spread of COVID-19. There are several critical components to our protocols and they include:
  1. Completion of a Daily Health Screening form.

  2. Social distancing of at least three feet.

  3. Limited direct exposure within six feet for more than fifteen minutes.

  4. Wearing of masks.

  5. Proper handwashing.

  6. Set-up of classrooms that limits contact between staff and students.

  7. High frequency cleaning.

  8. Practice good hand hygiene. Wash hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer.

  9. Daily temperature checks.

  10.  Hallways and restrooms are cleaned and disinfected daily.

  11. All classrooms, offices, and high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected daily.

Below are some resources that might be helpful.
