Health and Safety Update

June 4, 2021

Today is the last day of the 2020-21 school year. I am enormously grateful to our faculty and staff for their care and dedication to their students and our WW-P school community. These past sixteen months have required a monumental lift, from the initial opening of our school doors in September, to the day to day tasks managing Google Classroom, to presenting to both virtual and in-person students. Our entire school community deserves thanks and recognition for your support throughout this year. I am proud that our school community continued to find a path forward together. Thank you for your unwavering support.

This email will also mark my final Health and Safety Update of the 2020-21 school year. During the coming school year, I will continue to keep families and staff informed regarding health and safety, however these communications will look different and may be more targeted to the families that are directly impacted.

As we approach summer break, our school buildings will remain open and busy with summer programs, Community Education childcare programming, referendum work, summer deep cleanings, planning for the coming school year and more. During the summer, we will continue to require all visitors to complete a COVID screening form in order to access our facilities. Depending on the reason for the visit, these forms may either be submitted via a Google Form that will be supplied in advance (for larger events, e.g., an open house or a summer program) or via a paper form in the building’s main office (for a smaller event, e.g., registration appointment or CST meeting). All visitors will also be required to have their temperature screened and must wear a face mask while in the building.

Throughout the summer, the District will be providing parents/guardians with information regarding open house opportunities, return to school information, etc. via email. Details on various upcoming events will also be posted to our District website. We encourage families to follow the District via our social media accounts for updates on events, news, and more.

HEALTH PROTOCOLS

WW-P Schools have implemented health protocols as informed by guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the New Jersey Department of Health. When implemented with fidelity, the protocols work to limit possible exposure and spread of COVID-19. There are several critical components to our protocols and they include:

  1. Completion of a Daily Health Screening form.
  2.  Social distancing of at least three feet.
  3. Limited direct exposure within six (6) feet for more than fifteen (15) minutes during a (24) twenty-four hour period.
  4.  Wearing of masks.
  5.  Proper handwashing.
  6.  Set-up of classrooms that limits contact between staff and students.
  7.  High frequency cleaning.
  8.  Practice good hand hygiene. Wash hands often with soap and warm water for 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer.
  9.  Daily temperature checks.
  10.  Hallways and restrooms are cleaned and disinfected daily.
  11.  All classrooms, offices, and high touch surfaces are cleaned and disinfected daily.

I wish everyone a healthy, relaxing and enjoyable summer break.
