Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our Schools

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in WW-P supports powerful learning and belonging. Across K–12, our students will develop age-appropriate AI literacy—safe, ethical, and content-specific—so they can learn deeply, act responsibly, and thrive as whole children in an inclusive community.

In WW-P, if an assignment requires the use of an Artificial Intelligence tool, the tool must meet District, State, and Federal privacy requirements. The district has an Education Plus contract with Google, which permits the use of Gemini, Gems, and Notebook LM for all students. WW-P has also reviewed and approved the privacy policies of MagicSchool and SchoolAI, which may also be used as required applications for assignments.

While students may choose to use other AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude, at this time, these tools are not recommended or endorsed by the District and cannot be required for any assignment. The District has not purchased licenses for these tools. The unlicensed version of these tools do not meet the District's privacy policy requirements.

Can AI be used on an assignment or assessment for school? Staff will clearly communicate (both verbally and in writing) when and how AI may be used for specific assignments. Assignments will fall into one of three categories: Red: AI use is not permitted. Yellow: Students may use AI following the teacher’s specific guidelines. Green: Students are able to fully use AI to complete the assignment. Unless otherwise stated by the teacher, the default policy for in-class assignments is Red—AI use is not allowed.
