Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is great having our students, staff, and families back in our buildings eager to learn and grow together. Back to School Nights are well underway with the elementary and middle schools having already held their annual events and High School North and High School South looking forward to welcoming parents and caregivers into their buildings on Oct. 1 to meet with teachers and staff.
For the 2024-2025 school year, I will be sending families and staff a Monthly Update on the last Friday of each month (excluding holidays and school breaks). The Update will include important reminders and information that caregivers and staff members should keep in mind for the month ahead in WW-P.
Week of Respect
From Oct. 7-11, 2024, WW-P schools and schools throughout New Jersey will observe Week of Respect. Designated by the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L.2010, c.122) in order to raise awareness to prevent harassment, intimidation and bullying, this week is celebrated in our schools with age-appropriate activities including school-wide theme days, character education, read-alongs, random acts of kindness and more.
Social Media Use
Since the start of the school year, schools throughout the country have seen an increase in social media school threats and threats in general. Please know that WW-P takes any threat to our schools, students, and staff seriously. We work cooperatively with both the West Windsor and Plainsboro Police Departments to investigate any safety threat and follow the appropriate process and protocols outlined by both law enforcement and our schools. Please be reminded that if you or your child sees or hears something of concern to our school communities on social media or in general to please report it to a school administrator or law enforcement immediately.
It is also critically important that possible threatening social media posts not be re-texted or re-shared as this can cause undue anxiety, undermine the sense of safety in our schools, and waste school and local police department resources unnecessarily. I ask all parents and caregivers to have an open and frank conversation with their child(ren) regarding responsible and appropriate use of social media and technology devices.
Upcoming Calendar Reminder
All WW-P schools are closed Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024.
