January has been a busy month here in WW-P. Our staff, students and families have been active with winter concerts, exciting sporting events, club meetings, PTA and PTSA events, and more. A special thank you to all the staff members and parent volunteers who make these events possible. Our PTA/PTSAs serve as that continuous connection between home and school. Without volunteers, donations of time and funds, and the hours of planning that go into events, these afterschool activities would not be possible. If you are looking for a way to give back to the school community, I encourage you to reach out to your school PTA/PTSA as they are always looking for volunteers.
We are entering student scheduling season for the 2026-2027 school year. Our current fifth grade families are encouraged to enter the world language and elective selections into Genesis for the coming school year by the Feb. 2 deadline. Current 6th and 7th grade families will begin making their selections in the middle of February. The 8th Grade Family High School Program of Studies Night was held last week via Zoom. The Program of Studies Night for Current High School Students was held earlier this week. Both evening events provided families with a lot of great information. Course selection for our current 8th-11th grade students begins Feb. 4. Current 3rd and 4th grade families will be asked to make a music selection for their child for the 2026-2027 school year later in March.
School musical season is also around the corner. Our middle and high school theatre programs have been working hard preparing for the upcoming shows. I encourage our WW-P community to attend the productions listed below and enjoy the shows put on with the hard work and skills of our talented students, staff members/directors, musicians, students and staff working behind the scenes, and the many parent volunteers.

We continue to see U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the news. Please know that WW-P works closely with both the West Windsor and Plainsboro Police Department and have clear procedures to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Earlier this month, I shared with the community the protocols and legal principles the District follows in order to ensure we protect your children as if they were our own. Following the release of that email, former Governor Murphy signed a bill, the “Safe Communities Act”, that requires the State Attorney General to develop model policies to ensure personal freedom in certain “sensitive locations”. One of those locations is public schools. Once the model policies are released, the Commissioner of Education will adopt the model policies that are relevant to schools, and public schools will follow those policies (or policies that provide greater protections to students).

Middle School Parent Teacher Conferences: A reminder to middle school families that students in grades 6-8 will have early dismissals on Monday, Feb. 2, and Tuesday, Feb. 3, for parent teacher conferences. These conferences are ONLY teacher initiated. Families were contacted directly if a conference was requested. Teachers will not meet with all parents. If middle school parents/guardians have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
