Every year, Thanksgiving Recess is preceded by American Education Week. As I have traveled through our WW-P schools this fall, I am thankful to witness the parent and caregiver participation that occurs at our District schools. A positive home and school connection can have a tremendous impact on students including their motivation, behavior, social and academic successes. Thank you to our families and staff who continue to foster these important relationships.
Another touchpoint for this home and school connection is our Virtual Parent University series. Our first Parent University webinar for the 2024-2025 school year was held this week. WW-P, in partnership with Rutgers University Behavioral Health, discussed the topic, “The Hidden Toll of Competition Among Teens.” Our professionals not only talked about competition culture and its impact on our children, but they shared strategies to support children as well. A recording of this webinar will be available next week on the District website. The next Virtual Parent University webinar will be held Feb. 12, 2025, and the topic is “Teens and Screens.” Additional details and a Zoom link will be shared closer to the date.
As we enter the winter weather season, please ensure that your contact information is up-to-date in the Genesis Parent Portal. Should the District need to enact a school delay, emergency early dismissal, or school closure due to weather, parents/guardians and staff will be notified via the following methods:
-
Email
-
SMS text (must be opted in to receive information via text) - Please note that in order to receive SMS text messages, the cell phone must be listed in Genesis as a cell phone of a parent/guardian (not as a home phone number). Text messaging rates may apply. For additional details, please click here.
Any changes to the Districtwide schedule will also be announced on the District website, via the District’s social media channels (X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram and also the District app (available in both the Apple and Google Play app stores).
